18 Months And Counting!

My baby!

You are now 18 months old. I can't believe how fast time is flying by!

I have been trying to make notes here and there so I would remember various things you do. Here are some of the notes on my calendar:

August 12th: Follows directions like "pick it up!" "Get in your chair" but won't obey "come here" or "stop it".  Really likes his juice box. Makes incredible messes all over the place! Also needs bigger diapers.

August 18th: Maximus' first word:  Mama: "You're so big!"   Maximus: "Big"

October 3rd: Learned to spin in circles on his own while waiting in line at the airport on the 30th. He was entertaining himself. Now he does it whenever I read the phrase "walks all around" in one of his books. He is at 15.6 lbs today. Close to 28 inches. Not precisely sure since he wouldn't hold still.

We spent the entire month of September in California visiting your Welita and Welito! We had a good time.  Mama had really bad allergies to the general air in the town but you did well. You got to try a lot of new food and meet new people.  You liked to play in the yard and pet their dog Daisy. We went to parks and playgrounds and stores and restaurants.

We went to the very top of the hill in San Francisco and got some photos in front of the Golden Gate Bridge (the big red bridge!).  We walked along the pier and saw the loud sea lions. We went to the Santa Cruz boardwalk and you went on a few rides and played in the ocean. You were mostly scared of the rides and clung to me the whole way but it was a cool experience. We stayed with Tio Daniel and Tia Lucy, we stayed at Tia Sophia's house and you got to play with your cousins.   It was nice. Also, you did very well on the airplane because you slept through most of the trip!    Then after we got back home, Papa's friend Gabriel came to visit for a week. You really bonded with him. We went to the zoo!

• Minnie (actually refers to Mickey Mouse)
• "Ppptttthhhbbbbb" as a Car Sound
• Tee tee = Teeth as in you want to brush them
• Pee Pee = Change my diaper!
• Ow! = Wow
• Uh oh (sounds like ah-ooo)
• Cracker (sounds like cak-ooo)
• Tia  (Originally referred to "Tio Gabriel" but you couldn't say the O sound right. Just Tia. 
• You wave your hand for "bye bye" and "no more"
• You put your hands up above your shoulders and shrug when you don't know something
• You know what sounds a dog, cat, cow and snake make. You imitate these.
• You love cars. You love Mickey Mouse. You love the movie "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Road Rally" because Mickey drives a car in it. You watch it several times a day.
• You do things you know you shouldn't and then laugh until I notice. (Like annoyingly pull the fan vent down so it will blow cold air directly on me.)
• You grab my hand and pull me along with you when you want me to do something.
• You sleep very well through the night and are mostly weened.

I'm sure there are plenty more things but I can't seem to remember at the moment. You like to play and laugh. You're very happy and curious about things. I took you swimming the other day and you were afraid to let go of me even though it was ankle deep for you. You did like the little fountains that bubbled over and played with those for a while! You'll have to get used to water because I'm signing you up for swim lessons when you're a little older.
