It's been three months since I last wrote to you. Honestly, there isn't all that much to report. We've just been living day by day. We play and sing and learn new things. We eat lots of good food so you can pack on some pounds. We take naps and have tickle wars. Things are pretty good. It's been snowing so much that we just aren't up for going outside if we don't have to. Maximus, on the way to the car this morning, you decided to play with the foot of snow on the ground and immediately regretted your decision when you realized how cold it was. It took me a few seconds to get to you, pick you up and warm up your hands and ankles. We need to get you some snow boots! You cried for a while so I'm pretty sure you're not the biggest fan of snow right now but if you were properly suited up, a snowball fight would probably be a lot of fun. Perhaps we'll plan one next winter when Audrey can actually walk and join in.
Let me do a quick recap of the cute things you guys have said or done:
- You both enjoyed sitting in the Mickey chair.
- On November 20th (and quite often since then) Maximus enjoys playing peek-a-boo with Audrey and singing her the ABCs "to make her happy".
- All three of us dance around the house together.
- Audrey got good at laughing in response to tickles.
- Maximus could officially sing the whole alphabet, and he could count to 10 in English, Spanish, French & Japanese.
- Audrey did belly time more often and tried really hard to crawl.
- We made paper snowflakes together and hung them in the living room.
- Maximus put his Mr. Smee toy in the heater and melted it.
- Maximus enjoys talking on the phone and pacing around like papa.
- We finally took away his blanket and cured his thumb sucking habit.
- On December 19th: Me: "Are you still my baby?" Maximus: "Yeah, you wanna change my diaper?" I proceed to laugh and laugh... This kid is hilarious.
- By December 23rd, Audrey started arching her back and turning onto her side. She would now sleep on her side all curled up.
- On December 31st we were going to get on Skype with Welita and Welito but Maximus still had some spaghetti sauce on his face. Me: "You don't look very presentable." Max: "That's not my problem!" The sass!!!
- At the start of January, my parents and my brother Kory came to visit. Maximus had a blast.
- January 10th at nap-time: Me: "Goodnight, Happy nappy, I love you!" Maximus: "I love you mama, see you on Monday!" That's going to be a long nap since today is Saturday.
- Maximus started to get a lot sweeter and wanted to give me good morning hugs and good afternoon hugs. He also became very curious about time.
- January 11th, Audrey rolled from her back to her belly for the first time. (Now she insists on doing so during diaper changes.)
- Maximus began naming everything and constantly asking "what's that guy's name?" He named a panda bear "Ignatius", a dolphin "Finley" and a puppy "Jimmy".
- January 30th: Audrey was crying so we told Maximus to sing to her. She stopped crying right away. He sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and You Are My Sunshine which featured "you never know dear, how much mama and papa and Maximus loves you..."
- February 2nd: Maximus: "I like Audrey more than Mickey and Minnie."
- On February 4th, we got some stickers for Disney DVDs in the mail and Maximus immediately started picking out movies for everyone in the family. He actually made some good recommendations.
- Maximus: "Oh! mama! I like your blue shirt! It is beautiful! And I like your neck and your elbow!" He's so sweet and silly.
- February 11th: Maximus to Adelaida: "Bad guys are not broccoli, okay? Where did tablet go? We're not skyping anymore! Sonic!" .... I don't even know haha
- Got a funny video of Maximus standing at the air conditioner and shaking his head back and forth singing "My name is Mr. _____" with a variety of different names including "My name is Mr. Butt".
- February 12th marked Audrey's half birthday. We did a mini photoshoot int he living room and got some nice pictures.
- On February 14th, Audrey gained some movement. She started inching her way around slowly. By the next day she was scooting around and making it across the room by getting up on her knees and lunging. The next day, she could push herself up into the sitting position and belly-crawl.
- February 22nd: Maximus: "Mama, what color is your ear?" *I turn my head to try to see it* "Hm, I don't know! I can't see it! What color is your ear?" Maximus: "Darker white."
- February 25th: Maximus to David : "You look so lovely to me, papa!" David: "Thank you, mijo, it's the beard!"
- February 26th: We've been focusing harder on potty training. Using the bottomless approach is working. He got up and went into the bathroom all by himself and peed. He's been doing well all week.
That brings us to today. The shots that I mentioned at the beginning knocked Audrey out for a day and a night. She was up until 5 am crying. I ended up having to sleep on the floor next to her which was the only way either of us got some sleep. She's better now and seems to be back to normal. Maximus is very active and we constantly have to tell him not to run/stomp around because the neighbors downstairs don't like it. Other than that, he's been eating well, playing nicer with Audrey for the most part, and doing well with potty training.
You two already really love each other. Maximus, you get into trouble most of the time because of hugging your sister too roughly or knocking her over while trying to kiss her. Audrey gets into trouble when she grabs onto your hair. You both want to play together but aren't quite capable of doing so without hurting the other so we have to monitor you closely. You'll be best friends soon enough though!
